dear designboom reader,
light, with all of its luminosity, can immediately attract viewers’ attention. its vibrant spectrum woos the public’s attention, such as mars studio’s immersive spatial installation in a lawn consisting of seven linear and intertwined light sources. it also invokes an ambient sense, much like david altrath’s blue-hued curtains at groningen museum, emitting soft white and yellow light throughout.
the origins of light and playing with its contrasting landscape also arises in the art field, including verena bachl and karsten schuhl’s installation that explores the sun’s daylight course and people’s perception of time. oscillating between light and darkness is a core idea in michèle lamy's latest exhibition in dubai, where 20 artists and designers come together to interpret these themes.
