dear designboom reader, a few days ago, visionary architect and designer gaetano pesce passed away at the age of 84. his radical designs have left an indelible imprint on the industry, amassing revered, vibrant collections that will be remembered for many years to come. gaetano pesce’s colorful and often playful works range from resin-dipped chairs and monumental facades to arrow-punctured installations, cavernous retail designs, fist-shaped plaster sofas, and more. in an interview with designboom, gaetano pesce shared that he was sometimes asked what object he admired the most. 'the bulb. it doesn’t pretend to be very nice or very beautiful with new materials or whatever. it’s just something that helps human beings make incredible things. I think the object that I would like to create is this kind of object, without pretensions or aesthetics, something that is real and necessary for progress, because this opens incredible possibilities for human progress.' thank you for reading, matthew burgos | editor |
