design designboom was in geneva for SIHH 2019, the prestigious international watch show held in switzerland where the watch industry meets and where the year's new trends are revealed. presented was luxury watchmaker ulysse nardin's collaboration with celebrated italian erotic comic book artist milo manara on a series of ten erotic watches. the limited edition timepieces tell a mythical sea story where ulyssa, a mermaid, and nadia, a woman, meet, discover, and love each other beneath the waves. also at SIHH, in a brave departure from the iconic design codes of its longstanding oak watches, audemars piguet reveals CODE 11.59. the new collection isn’t just an evolution on previous models but an entirely new family of watches, and with a name that refers to the last minute of the day before the dawn of a new one, it is clear that audemars piguet’s latest move is a bold one. |

art graphic designer joshua vides debuted one of his signature black and white installations at palms casino resort in las vegas. recreating a little white wedding chapel — one of the city’s most iconic landmarks — vides’ installation titled ’til death do us part’ comprises an 800 square foot, illustrated black-and-white venue for an instagram-worthy wedding or vow renewal. rendered with a cartoon-like quality, the interior feels strangely flattened, like a sheet of paper without three dimensional qualities. |
