REPURPOSING BEESWAX FOR SUSTAINABLE LATTICE PANELS 'the wax project' introduces an innovative sustainable solution by harnessing beeswax to create recyclable, translucent lattice panels. unlike acrylics and plastics, beeswax allows for easy reuse, since in case of damage, a new panel can be produced in less than 30 minutes, significantly reducing the carbon footprint. integrated into a prefabricated wooden lattice structure, the 13 x 13 cm panels serve as portable partition walls in gensler's mexico city offices. ‘using beeswax in architecture is not only a technical or functional solution, it is a declaration of principles,' explains MANUFACTURA, the studio leading the project. 'this material invites us to rethink the way we build and live, prioritizing harmony with the environment and respect for natural resources.' see more submissions by our readers here, and find out how to upload your own project here. the weekly is an inside review curated by sofia lekka angelopoulou. | ||||||||||||||||
