WEEK IN REVIEW MAKING A FESTIVAL: INSIDE TIME WARP'S IMMERSIVE SET DESIGNS designboom speaks with Anatol Fried about the immersive spatial designs of Time Warp techno music festival. Across the festival's five stages, scenography becomes a form of world-building, where each structure draws from nature to create sensory-rich environments. Inspired by ice caves, plant cells, and geometric patterns, Fried and a series of interdisciplinary designers engineered animated spaces where architecture and light respond to the energy of the crowd. ‘It was natural for us to try to surround people with light and scenography along with the music,’ the technical director tells us. Set in a sunlit courtyard, the project reimagines bread waste as a sensory building material, inviting reflection on abundance, sustainability, and the cultural weight of everyday food.
