THEASTER GATES IS THE FIRST NON-ARCHITECT TO DESIGN A SERPENTINE PAVILION

chicago-based artist theaster gates has designed the 21st serpentine pavilion as a space for gathering, meditation and participation, with an emphasis on sacred music. titled 'black chapel', the temporary pavilion opened to the public in london's hyde park last friday, offering a platform for serpentine galleries’ live program throughout the summer and beyond.

HYBRID CREATURES MADE FROM HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURE

the ‘archeature’ is a hybrid creature that is part human and part architecture. envisioned by iranian architect ehsan kazerooni, the digital artworks are composed of images of harvesters, photographed by george steinmetz, whose faces have been replaced by spellbinding patterns and geometries found in historical architecture examples of different civilizations and cultures. see more submissions by our readers here, and find out how to upload your own project here.
