The Ottawa REDBLACKS have released receiver and kick returner DeVonte Dedmon to pursue an NFL opportunity with the Miami Dolphins The 26-year-old joined RNation in 2019, and immediately set a franchise record in his rookie season with 377 total return yards in a single game against the Montreal Alouettes on August 2, 2019.
In the 2021 season, the CFL All-Star had a combined 2,841 return yards across punts and kicks, alongside three touchdowns in the return game, leading to him being named the 2021 John Agro Special Teams award recipient as the CFLs Most Outstanding Special Teams Player, as voted on by his peers.
He was also the fastest player in the CFL to reach five career return touchdowns in 15 games, breaking the previous record held by Gizmo Williams, who took 18 games to achieve this record in 1987.
