Join the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC Gallery) as they celebrate Dia de Los Muertos Recuerdos 2024. Dia de Los Muertos is a time of celebration, remembrance, and community. “CHAC Gallery loves keeping the Dia de Los Muertos traditions alive and flourishing in Denver. CHAC Gallery has something for everyone planned this year! It is important for us to hold space for community during this sacred time and celebrate being together and the wonderful traditions that we carry with us from our ancestors and loved ones who have passed on.” Brenda Gurule Executive Director. For over 51 years CHAC Gallery, among other non-profits like the Pirate: Contemporary Art, paved the way for the abundance of Dia de Los Muertos Celebrations in Denver.
We are very excited to celebrate Día de los Muertos at CHAC Gallery on Santa Fe and CHAC @ 40 West!!! So grateful and proud of our amazing CHAC artists as they make Día de los Muertos possible with their talents, skills and dedication to their culture.
CHAC Gallery also partnered with the Butterfly Pavilion this year! Our artists set up their community altar and are providing education workshops for their Monarch Magic. The complete calendar is under the events schedule below.
We had an amazing time at Break Create and the Armory Performing Arts Center in Brighton, celebrating Día de los Muertos and connecting CHAC artists and CHAC Gallery to surrounding communities. Check out our social media to see what CHAC Gallery was up to!

Jamie Chihuan
Jamie Chihuan, a Latino artist hailing from Denver, Colorado, is renowned for his captivating blend of surrealist painting, thought-provoking documentaries, and the enigmatic Cloak photography series. Raised in Longmont, Colorado, by immigrant parents from Mexico and Peru, Chihuan's diverse cultural heritage ignited a vibrant imagination that would later fuel his artistic journey.
A self-taught artist, Chihuan's unique perspective challenges traditional norms and delves into the complexities of identity. His neo-surrealist approach seamlessly intertwines personal experiences with universal themes, inviting viewers to explore the depths of their own subconscious. Inspired by the surrealist movement, Chihuan's work often reflects the challenges of being a first-generation American, as he seeks to uncover his true identity through artistic expression.
Beyond his fine art practice, Chihuan is a versatile creative who thrives in various artistic mediums. As the founder and owner of A Deal in Hell, a creative agency based in Colorado, he has successfully collaborated with renowned clients such as Native Roots, Ocean Spray, Palo Alto Networks, the Denver Art Museum, and Big Cartel. His work in advertising, film, branding, and photography showcases his ability to seamlessly transition between commercial and artistic endeavors.
Chihuan's artistic journey is a testament to the power of self-belief and the pursuit of creative expression. His work continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide, leaving a lasting impact on the art world. Additionally, his work is heavily influenced by the Southwest, particularly Southern Utah and Northern Arizona, which often serve as a muse for his surrealist visions.
