| Color and light are music to me! I strive to share this joyful visual experience with others. I'm a life-long artist... can remember my first watercolor box at age five.
Whether painting landscape, still life, or figurative⦠my favorite mediums are acrylics, oils, gouache, and watercolor. I have stacks of sketchbooks filled with field studies and ideas for future paintings. My artist friends, plein air groups, and teaching help keep me informed and challenged. My watercolor and acrylic classes will start this October at Ringling Art Center, Englewood, FL. I enjoy the enthusiastic community of artists in this area of SW Florida and feel lucky to live here.
Born in New York, studied at Pratt Institute, and State University of New York with graduate studies. As Diane Paterson, author and illustrator of children's books, I published a dozen of my own and illustrated over sixty books for other authors.
Warning, horn tooting ahead: Solo shows at the Bay Preserve at Osprey, Ringling Mitchell Gallery, and Hughes Gallery, Boca Grande. A painting traveled to several museums, from Williamsburg VA to Mystic CT with the American Society of Marine Artists. Won the Bowles Portrait Award twice. Won the James Gurney Challenge! Won enough ribbons to make a curtain at both local and national exhibitions. And won the FINE ART CONNOISSEUR MAGAZINE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE! FINALIST, BOLDBRUSH PAINTING COMPETITION.
