Auguste Rodin has been dubbed the “father of modern sculpture” and “greatest sculptor since Michelangelo.” Was he, really? In an in-depth piece today, Boston College art historian Mary Sherman makes a strong case that Rodin stole from French artist Camille Claudel, his former lover and collaborator whose work is now the subject of a traveling exhibition in the United States. I highly recommend reading this one. To paraphrase the old saying: Behind every great man isan uncredited great woman.

In the news, the New York art world remembers veteran gallerist Barbara Gladstone, who passed away last weekend at age 89.

There’s more, including this month’s Mini Art Crossword and an interview with longtime art educator Philip Yenawine as part of our Pride Month series.
