Welcome to the 686th Digital Photography Review newsletter.

Hard to believe, but 2017 is almost over. A lot has happened in the photography industry over the past 12 months, and even now, in the final weeks of the year we're seeing major new products released. The Panasonic G9 arrived in our office a few days before its announcement and we're very impressed by its combination of excellent handling, image quality and speed. Sony's a7R III is just as impressive in its own way, and we've been digging into its Pixel Shift mode recently, to see what kind of a difference this makes to image quality.
