Welcome to the 661st Digital Photography Review newsletter!

Here in Seattle we seem to have skipped past spring and jumped directly to summer, so don't be surprised to find galleries full of barbecues, beaches and late evening sunshine, over the coming months. Actually, do, since we'll probably still all be in the office bringing you the latest news and the results of our camera testing. But we know you like it, so it's all worth it.

Nikon D7500 hands-on video

The D7500 has just arrived in Seattle so, before it disappears into the studio for testing, Dan Bracaglia grabbed it to shoot a quick rundown of its features. Have a look, see what you think.

VR: not ready yet, but on its way

Virtual Reality and 360 degree imagery is starting to develop the kind of hype that built up around 3D, a few years ago. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki (The Revenant) have even been showing off a VR creation at the Cannes Film Festival. There are still a couple of things holding it back, argues our own Dale Baskin, but he still thinks it'll succeed.

Carey discusses the Sony a9 on The New Screen Savers

We've been working with the TWiT Network over the past few months and just over a week ago it was Carey's turn to appear as a guest and discuss the latest cameras on their The New Screen Savers show. Despite all appearances, he wasn't there to demonstrate any martial arts moves, instead he was showing off, and talking about, the Sony a9.

You know I said the D7500 was being rushed into the studio? I may have exaggerated. Instead, Dan took it out shooting to a music festival. See what he came back with.

We hope you found something interesting in that list. Either way, rest assured there'll be more next week.
