I was born in 1960 in Athens,Greece. I was always fascinated by light, sea and shapes which were plenty in a warm mediterranean city. When I was 3 years old, I saw a car collision and according to my mother I depicted them with a pencil in a ...door. I was interested in painting but instead I went to study chemistry (the mixing part is very similar...).
I later went to graduate school at Michigan State to specialise in synthetic methodology. After a year in the Greek army I got a job at the European Patent Office as a patent examiner. I was in Holland, the country of Old masters and Van Gogh...there I felt this mysterious energy and I started painting and going to several schools (such as Vrije Akademie with teacher Ed van der Kooi) to learn drawing, old masters techniques such as grissaille and impressionism.
My most important trip was one in France to attend an impressionism workshop organised by Carolyn Miller and offered by Charles Sovek. I was lucky there to meet Kim English who came to paint and to be a reserve teacher. Kim, his wife Nura and myself made several trips in Europe (Greece, Italy, France and Malta).
I held my first solo exhibition in 1998 which has been followed by 13 more solo exhibitions in Greece, Holland, Belgium and France. I work mostly alla prima, outside in square sizes 30x30cm or larger...and if I like a painting, I do a larger version of it in studio. I have won a few awards, and my work can be found in several houses, offices and organisations.
I organised for two years in a row a painting event in Serifos Island, Greece where painters such as Leon Holmes and Michael Richardson took part. I love travelling in new (sunny) countries for new inspiration and challenge. My next exhibition will be in Rotterdam in March 2018.
I have two sons, 23 and 16 years old.
