This week's top real estate headlines

With the $10 million purchase of a home that neighbors the Jack Warner estate, Jeff Bezos has just significantly expanded his holdings in Benedict Canyon. It's unclear what exactly the Amazon CEO plans to do with his new buy, but since it shares a short hedge line with his existing property, it could potentially be used as a luxe guesthouse or staff quarters in the future. Meanwhile, over in the Hollywood Hills, Kat Von D has put her Spanish-style residence back on the market, this time with a $3.4 million price tag. Unfortunately, much of the glam-goth décor one would expect from her home has been replaced with more tame, generic artwork and furniture.

In other news, Van Halen rocker Sammy Hagar is asking $3.9 million for his Lake Arrowhead vacation getaway, Zoe Bonderman, daughter of Texan multibillionaire David Bonderman, bought an "organic modern private tropical retreat” in the Hollywood Hills for $5.7 million, "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins purchased a $6.4 million Santa Monica house, former NBC exec Ted Harbert is seeking $10 million for his SoHo loft, Blake Griffin scored a $19 million Brentwood compound, fresh and frozen food executive Josh Solovy bought a $24 million Beverly Hills estate, and the former Las Vegas compound of the late comic legend Jerry Lewis is now asking $1.3 million.

Jeff Bezos Drops $10 Million on the House Next Door

Because the property was never on the market, pictures and current details of the house are virtually nonexistent. But dated listings from 2018 describe the mini-estate as a “romantic pied-a-terre” with six fireplaces, a den, media room, library, and central courtyard. There were also backyard vegetable and rose gardens, plus a hedged front yard and two-car garage.
