This week's top real estate headlines When Lachlan Murdoch recently shelled out $150 million for Bel Air's iconic Chartwell Estate, it shattered a record as the most expensive California home ever sold, easily beating out the previous $119.7 million purchase of The Manor. You might recognize the over-the-top, opulent mansion as the residence of the "Beverly Hillbillies"' Clampett family. Meanwhile, across the pond, "Ladybird" and "Little Women" star Saoirse Ronan has sold her fully-rehabbed, seaside hideaway located about 20 miles south of Dublin in Ireland’s County Wicklow for about $2.1 million. Money may not be life's report card, but the sale price is considerably more than the $1.8 million Ronan paid for the home a couple of years ago.
In other news, Doobie Brothers crooner Michael McDonald is asking $3.9 million for his Hawaii hideaway, Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen is settling into a Woodland Hills home, L.A. Reid is hightailing it out of Bel Air, new Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone treats herself to a swanky Bel Air home, Bridgit Mendler gets $2 million for her Silver Lake, and Olivia Culpo purchases a snazzy, brand-new house in the increasingly celeb-studded Encino neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.
