This week's top real estate headlines

After listing his longtime Malibu home on the market for $15 million last week, Matthew Perry has already purchased some much more modest accommodations in the perennially pricey Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Though it's nearly half the size of his old digs, the "Friends" actor's new residence features a clean design and stunning ocean views. Meanwhile over in Holmby Hills, billionaire investor Nicolas Berggruen just couldn't resist buying the 2.2-acre, country-like oasis next door; he has plans to unite the parcels into a roomy, 4.4 acre contiguous compound.

In other news, actor Justin Kirk bought a $1.78 million contemporary in the Hollywood Hills, media heir Casey Wasserman is moving into L.A.'s Bird Streets neighborhood, former ESPN sportscaster Michelle Beadle is asking a tad under $4.4 million for her Encino manse, Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen purchased Richard Neutra's iconic Tremaine House, "HIMYM" creator Carter Bays wants a little under $4 million for his Bedford Hills estate, producer Doug Robinson expanded his real estate holdings in Santa Monica, and Bill Prady snagged another Toluca Lake home for $5 million.

Described in listing materials as “quintessential Southern Californian,” the single-story house offers an unobstructed indoor/outdoor flow, smart home technology, and a cutting-edge facial recognition security system.
