This week's top real estate headlines

Selena Gomez must have seen something "rare" in Tom Petty's former Encino mansion. The Disney star turned international pop songstress shelled out $4.9 million for the decidedly eclectic house that the rock n' roll star custom-built for himself in 1989. Meanwhile, over on the East Coast, another rock star is making some big real estate moves. Jon Bon Jovi is seeking $20 million for his lavish, palatial Middletown estate which sprawls out over 15 river-front acres in one of Monmouth County’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
