Dinosaur chicken nuggets? How one scientist is making Jurassic Park realOne thing most people arenât aware of is the fact that dinosaurs still walk among us! Well, maybe âwalkâ isnât entirely accurate. Birds are the last living dinosaurs, and share both DNA and bone structures with mighty beasts like the T. Rex. Thatâs why one scientist had the idea to recreate dinosaurs using living things instead of fossilized amber. Jack Horner, famed paleontologist, found that chicken DNA contains âatavisms,â or leftovers from their ancestors for things like claws, snouts and even teeth. He and a group of scientists have proposed turning this dormant DNA âback onâ to create what he calls a âdino-chicken,â a creature that looks like a tiny velociraptor but is genetically 100% chicken. Ten years from now, he speculates dinosaurs may walk the earth once again. And yes, theyâll taste like chicken, too! Has science gone too far? Maybe, but itâs not the fi rst time!
