At the 2020 Silmo d’Or awards, Lafont won the best in category for the new HUGO frame for children, recognizing the brand’s expertise in pediatric optics. Hugo features an acetate frame front with a key-hole bridge. The design is made from Lafont’s exclusive mono-block corner piece and adjustable temples, ensuring an ergonomic fit for children. The adjustability provides a perfect, custom fit for the young eyeglass wearers. Lafont won in the same category in 2000 and 2007 with designs DOUDOU and TAM TAM. This is the 3rd victory for the brand, acknowledging Lafont’s on-going excellence in design and manufacturing. The Brand’s Art Director Thomas Lafont gives insight into the new collection and his inspirations: "The Spring / Summer 2021 collection was crafted under extraordinary circumstances, which prompted me to explore new perspectives and a fresh approach. This season my goal was to create the exact proportions to embellish a face. Poetic and inspired, I deliver a contemporary, sober and unique interpretation of a beautiful frame. This Women’s collection encompasses a range of original colors and shapes. My particular focus was on providing an abundance of shades and mixtures of pigments, which I imagined as different eye-catching moments of life. The acetate blends into collages, like stained glass; the colors push the limits of finesse. Metal designs take shape with fluid curves and multicolored powdery shades. The silhouettes are constructed like quilts from different eras, forming the basis of a diverse and robust collection. For Men's frames the lines are clean, the cuts perfect and the materials chosen with care. Neutral tones, chic and discreet, highlight a contemporary male wardrobe. Strong ideas, concepts, innovations and genuine creative freedom, are brought to fruition through our historic collaboration with our partner, the Manufacture Thierry."
