It's Tuesday, April 12, and today's headlines include an upcoming Disney ad slamming Americans who oppose the genital mutilation of children, a poll revealing U.S. attitudes toward the moral lessons of Easter and Passover, and the recovery of 16 children following a US Marshals operation. | | The Walt Disney Company will soon be airing an ad on all of its channels featuring the mother of a trans-identified child lambasting supporters of bills banning genital mutilation surgeries for children and the teaching of LGBT ideology in schools. The mother accuses these Americans of trying to "tear our families apart." The LGBT advocacy organization GLAAD released the public service announcement called "Protect Our Families" last week. The 60-second ad profiles the Briggle family, which includes Amber Briggle along with her husband and her two children. The ad focuses on her trans-identified daughter, who now identifies as a boy and goes by the name Max. In the video, Briggle discusses Max’s interests as she narrates a background video of her daughter in an effort to persuade those watching the ad that society should support parents who want their children to be given puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, saying a transgender child "is no different than yours." | The ad will reportedly air on channels owned by The Walt Disney Company, as well as channels owned by Comcast, Paramount, and WarnerMedia. | Poll reveals Americans value moral lessons of Easter, Passover | | A survey conducted by the Convention of States Action and The Trafalgar Group has found that more than two-thirds of likely voters in the U.S. believe that the moral lessons of Easter and Passover are important to "ensuring a strong America for future generations." Just 16.4% said the lessons were "not important to all." The survey also revealed a clear political divide among respondents, with nearly 67% of Republicans responding "very important," compared to less than 36% of Democrats. Further, while just 8.7% of Republican respondents said the moral lessons were "not important at all," approximately 28% of Democrat respondents said the same. Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler said that, contrary to popular belief, the survey revealed that Americans do not "place less and less value on faith," asserting, "Parents want our children to be taught to know and respect God, value freedom, observe the golden rule, and to achieve a good and great society through hard work and sacrifice." Kay Ivey has signed into law measures that aim to protect children in her state through the banning of genital mutilation as part of sex-change operations on youth who suffer from gender dysphoria. The law also bans the teaching of sexual orientation to elementary school students. Senate Bill 184, also known as the "Vulnerable Child Protection Act," and House Bill 322 were approved primarily along party lines. The Vulnerable Child Protection Act bans state employees and employees of public school districts from "prescribing, dispensing, administering, or otherwise supplying puberty blocking medication to stop or delay normal puberty," "performing surgeries that sterilize," "performing surgeries that artificially construct tissue with the appearance of genitalia that differs from the individual’s biological sex" and "removing any healthy or non-diseased body part or tissue."
