The Advocate's Top Headlines

with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editor

Good afternoon. Here are some of the top stories in the Baton Rouge area today.

Disorder in the Court

The state Supreme Court has disqualified a Lafayette judge caught on video using a racial slur. Michelle Odinet had been the subject of numerous complaints and requested a leave from the court. Justices this morning approved it, though the vote wasn't unanimous. One justice said he wasn't sure, even though the judge's lawyer has acknowledged she used the slur.

Slowly moving back toward normal

A new school is about to open in Denham Springs, replacing one destroyed during the 2016 flood. Jackie DeRobertis was given a peek yesterday and has this report.

Brennan back but not back

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan says he'll play for LSU after temporarily entering the transfer portal, but he's not completely back. Brennan will not play in the Texas Bowl on Jan. 4 and says he'll be back with the Tigers at the start of the spring semester.

We appreciate your stopping by. Here's hoping you have a good weekend.
