LAW VS. ORDER: Monday was District Attorney Jason Williams' turn to go before the city council to address the cause of, and what to do about, the current spike in robberies, carjackings, shootings and homicides. Williams, a former member of the council, spent four hours at the hearing and called for a hard look at the number of cases that the NOPD solves. Last week, police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson was in front of the council echoing earlier comments that the rest of the criminal justice system was failing to hold criminals accountable.
POWER PLAY: New Orleans' beleaguered pumps and the ancient generators that power them are a constant source of stress in a city that sees increasingly severe storms. On Monday, energy utility Entergy said it will have to back out of a deal to put $30 million toward building a new power substation. Reporter Ben Myers has what it all means here.
FLUSH, FOR A CHANGE: Louisiana is usually rifling through the couch cushions for change this time of year, but on Monday, Gov.
