The busy pre-Christmas season is usually a seasonal driver of revenue for theatres and orchestras in Hamburg. However, inflation and the repercussions of pandemic are causing problems for cultural venues. And the mood among consumers remains tense, according to the latest GFK consumer climate survey. Nowadays, an occupancy rate of only 50 per cent is the new "sold out” for many smaller theatres. Nevertheless, theatres in Hamburg continue offering all kinds of musicals and theatre plays. In other news, Hamburg is getting a hydrogen terminal while the Centre for Applied Aviation Research (ZAL) is set to become even bigger. And it remains to be seen whether driverless shuttles will hit roads across Hamburg from 2024.
