East Baton Rouge uses a board of engineers to assess where and how much money should be spent on various works projects, like the MovEBR work. A Metro Council member says a Metro Council member should be on the board, too. The idea has drawn some complaints, however, with even some of his colleagues concerned that putting a politician on the panel will alter the way work is selected.
This was a bizarre scene: a dead horse on the Southern University campus. There are a lot of questions today after a person rode a horse onto the campus then fled when the horse collapsed and died in front of the Law Center. Animal Control workers are collaborating with Southern University police to look for surveillance video that might show a little more of what happened. There were no identifying marks or microchips or tattoos on the horse.
A traffic court clerk in West Baton Rouge is accused of stealing more than $150,000. According to the sheriff's office, the clerk fudged records and pocketed money that was intended to the parish's bank account. Legislative auditors are investigating, too. |
