Do the Saints have a right tackle problem?

Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Wednesday, August 14.

A developing situation?

Trevor Penning continues to be a work in progress at right tackle. The former 2022 first-round draft pick has had his share of ups and downs this preseason. Tuesday's practice was another struggle for him, as Mattthew Paras reports in his observations from practice 15 of training camp.

More walking wounded

In other news from practice, star running back Alvin Kamara left the workout with an injury. Initial reports were that the injury was not serious, but we'll obviously continue to monitor the situation. Another offensive player also left practice early.

Comings and goings

The Saints made a couple of roster moves, releasing a fullback and adding a cornerback to the roster.

Remembering the best stories

And finally, in my continuing "25 for 25" series, I list the favorite stories I've written in my 25-year tenure on the Saints beat. This was a fun trip down memory lane. Admittedly, I kind of cheated on No. 1.

That'll do it for today. We'll have more news and analysis in the days ahead as the Saints conclude training camp in Irvine, Calif., and start to prepare for their second preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif.

Until next time, cheers....

Jeff Duncan
