Dear John, Most people do things that are contrary to their best interest. That’s one of the reasons I find Facebook so amusing. The social media giant has become a cesspool of narcissism used to manipulate people into doing things they otherwise wouldn’t. It has become so bad, left-leaning politicians are now campaigning on breaking up this business – as if it is worse than other companies that sell addictive, mind-altering substances, like cigarettes, opioids, and casino gaming. Since I’m an unabashed capitalist, and since it’s completely legal, I use Facebook ads to help people (not to manipulate them). One of those ads offers a free course that teaches people to develop business without cold calling. This is a legitimate video course, which is absolutely free. The user need only provide me with his/her email in exchange for access. The ad I run to entice people to opt-in says: “Tired of cold-calling? Wish you could get home for dinner every night? My name is Dave Lorenzo and for the last 28 years I've been helping entrepreneurs like you grow their business. Download my 60 Second Sale Online Course for FREE!” The promise of the ad is: You’ll sell more without cold calling and get home on time for dinner every night if you use the system I’ve developed. You’d think people would either opt-in and check it out or ignore it and move on with their lives. Some do. But… A few times each week I get some mentally unstable agoraphobe attacking me because I am against cold calling. These folks are usually a disciple of some old-school sales guru who has brainwashed them into believing the only way to grow a business is by interrupting people at dinner and while they are working. They make 600 calls per day, bother 580 people, and have conversations with 20. Of those, 3 buy something. This means they scorch the Earth with at least 580 people each day who view them as pests. Yet somehow, they find time to attack me and my system (which they’ve never tried). This brings us to people doing what’s good for them. This video (follow link) https://youtu.be/lpM7h7LKH-M offers seven relationship development alternatives for that don’t involve cold calling. If you want to keep interrupting and annoying people after you watch the video, be my guest. I want to make sure you are familiar with the alternatives. And then there is curious case of the genius who believes he can go through life without ever selling anything to anyone. This person has never: Convinced a kid to clean his room, persuaded a spouse to see a movie, made an offer of assistance to anyone and had that person say “yes,” or met someone new and developed a friendship. All of those things involve selling. You sell every day. Yet this week, in a room full of lawyers, I had someone tell me they don’t sell, and they won’t sell. Fact: Lawyers who don’t develop sales skills have skinny kids. Sales is convincing people to exchange value with you. Put another way: SALES is HELPING people in return for financial compensation. I teach people to develop relationships FIRST and then offer help in return for financial compensation after an environment of trust is established. This is a win-win proposition. So now it is your turn. You ended up on my email list for some reason. Maybe you enjoy reading these emails or watching my videos. Maybe you maximize the value you receive by implementing the free tips I provide. Maybe you just find me entertaining (and handsome and smart). Since I’ve already delivered all this value, I’m going to ask you to do something for me. Watch this video, https://youtu.be/lpM7h7LKH-M give it a thumbs-up on YouTube and leave a positive comment. The video is great. It is a lead generation prospecting checklist for people who sell services – people like you. Please do me this favor. https://youtu.be/lpM7h7LKH-M You may even find that following my advice from the video helps you grow your business and get home on time for dinner. It’s in your best interest. Thanks for helping me out. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a great week. Warm regards, Dave Lorenzo |
