 Doctoral INPhINIT fellowships Incoming Call 2024

Objective:
Fellowships to pursue PhD studies in research centres accredited with the Spanish Seal of Excellence Severo Ochoa, María de Maeztu or Health Institute Carlos III and Portuguese units accredited as “excellent” according to the evaluation of the Fundação de Ciência e Tecnologia.

Who can apply:
Researchers of all nationalities who wish to pursue a PhD in STEM disciplines in research centers of excellence in Spain and Portugal.

Deadline: 24 January 2024

 
Possitions offered at BCAM: 
  • Mathematical foundation of statistical mechanics of anomalous diffusion: investigating how far the existing models can go provided the basic physical principles and the experimental evidence.
     
  • Developing efficient cost functions for solving complex Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) in geophysics using Deep Learning and Neural Networks.
     
  • Revolutionizing biomedical signal processing by minimizing data acquisition and computation. Leveraging signal properties, we aim to reduce sensor samples and computation using unsupervised Machine Learning.
     
  • PhD on advancing methods for personalised medicine based on Topological data analysis and Artificial Intelligence to determine clinical targets for Alzheimer's Disease. Collaboration with NIH-NIA/USA.
     
  • A mathematical adventure towards creating the philosopher’s stone (or some other equally magical material).
     
  • Are you interested in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning? Join us to develop principled Machine Learning for its use in scientific, engineering, and medical problems!"
Key points:
  • Funding to cover labour costs, research costs and doctoral tuition fees.
  • Maximum duration: 4 years
  • On-site training programme in multidisciplinary skills.
Requirements of the call: 
  • Experience: candidates must not have carried out more than four years of research activity before the closing date of the call.
  • Studies pursued: at the time of recruitment, candidates must have completed the studies that allow them to enrol in an official PhD programme in Spain/Portugal. The verification of the required level of studies will be carried out by the host university when the admission procedure begins. Candidates must not have been enrolled in a doctoral programme prior to the start of the fellowship.
  • Mobility: candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain/Portugal for more than twelve months in the three years immediately preceding the closing date of the call.
  • Level of English: candidates must accredit the required level of English.
