Does road to Omaha start in the east?

Greetings from Destin, Florida, where the gavel drops Tuesday morning on this year's SEC Spring Meeting.

There will be plenty to talk about here this week, with revenue sharing, football TV plans and Texas and Oklahoma being on the cusp of joining the league. But Monday the focus was on baseball and where the LSU Tigers were heading.

Before the SEC Tournament, it was probable though not certain that LSU was going to get in the NCAA Tournament. That all changed with the Tigers' run to the SEC final.

Monday LSU (40-21) was rewarded for its late-season surge with a No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional. That collective groan you heard from the east was North Carolina, a No. 4 national seed, realizing the NCAA selection committee sent a red-hot Tiger team to their regional.

LSU will open against Wofford at noon CDT Friday. Our Koki Riley has the full breakdown on the teams in the Chapel Hill Regional and how to watch and listen to the games.

The football transfer portal may be accepting no new applicants, but there are still some players in it looking for places to play. Friday, LSU added one of them, filling its penultimate roster spot. Wilson Alexander has the details.

I'm still in Destin (hey, I know, it's tough but someone has to be here) where we met with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey on Monday. Here are some of the key topics they will be discussing this week.

Finally, it's never too early for Heisman odds, and we've got the latest numbers on quarterback Garrrett Nuss. To use gambling jargon, they're pretty short.

That's all from here, folks. Please stick with us with reports on LSU sports from Baton Rouge to Destin to Chapel Hill this week. We appreciate you making us your top choice for the most comprehensive LSU sports coverage.

Until next time,

Scott Rabalais
