Good morning, and welcome to the Tuesday, Dec. 4, edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. Let's go over the aftermath of the latest crushing loss, shall we? It should be Jameis' timeDerek Carr is dealing with his second concussion in the last three weeks. Coach Dennis Allen said Monday he's also navigating injuries to his ribs and his throwing shoulder. Enough is enough, Rod Walker writes. I'll let his words take it home: "Don’t let it linger all week, Dennis Allen. "Go ahead and name Jameis Winston the starter and give him a full week of preparation for what is essentially a do-or-die game for the New Orleans Saints when they host the Carolina Panthers at noon Sunday." Allen didn't follow Rod's advice Monday. Let's see what happens Wednesday when the Saints take the practice field. Update on the sideline officialThe damage to the Saints sideline official who got hurt in Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions was a bit more severe than initially let on. Nick Piazza, a member of the chain gang who was injured on an Alvin Kamara run in the second quarter, suffered a fractured fibula in addition to his dislocated knee, a Saints spokesman said Monday. Piazza will likely undergo surgery next week for fracture, but the team said his “blood vessels remain intact.” Matthew Paras has the details. Talkin' bout tweetsIn case you are a rational person that does not spend too much time online, you may have missed that Saints receiver Michael Thomas posted a series of cryptic, apparently critical tweets during the Saints loss to the Lions Sunday. Naturally, Dennis Allen was asked about the topic at his Monday press conference. Allen said he didn't know if the Saints ordered Michael Thomas to delete his X/Twitter account after Sunday — and the coach declined to say if Thomas would face discipline for the posts. “We’ll keep that in-house,” Allen said. There's so much more to get through from Monday's game, and you can check it all out over at nola.com. Thanks as always for your readership and support. Cheers, Luke Johnson |
