Long Beach Teachers Tackle Trash |
|
Grades of Green — in partnership with LBUSD, City of Long Beach, Waste Management, and Veggie Grill – just wrapped up a waste-reduction workshop for LBUSD teachers on how to educate and empower their students to make a difference!
Teachers got a chance to have some fun by playing waste information games that they were able to both learn from, and bring back to the classroom to play with their students… who knew potato chip bags last forever in our landfills??
Thank you to all the teachers who participated and played in the workshop! It is inspiring to see their passion to educate and empower their students to create positive environmental impacts in their school and community. |

Keeping Plastics Out of our Oceans |
|
Over the past couple of months, Justin Sather has been working on a project to reduce the amount of plastic in the ecosystem. Through Team Seas, he has raised enough support to collect 500 pounds of plastic. In addition, Justin has been advocating the installation of the Ocean Cleanup’s Interceptor in Ballona Creek to reduce the amount of waste that enters the environment; this includes presentations, writing letters, and meeting with officials from the Ocean Cleanup. |
