This year’s ACDIS Conference offers a number of sessions to help CDI staff stay informed about shifts in governmental focus and industry best practice including:

• General session speakers Scott Perry, CPA, senior auditor with the OIG, and Truman Mayfield, CPA, CFE, the OIG’s assistant regional inspector general who will discuss ongoing OIG initiatives and help CDI programs understand the agency’s “hospital compliance project.”
• William Haik, MD, FCCP, CDIP, & Laurie L. Prescott, RN, MSN, CCDS, CDIP, CRC, who present “Query Compliance: Addressing Changes in the 2019 ACDIS/AHIMA Physician Query Practice Guidance.” Haik and Prescott both served the latest ACDIS/AHIMA physician query practice guidelines committee and will share information vital to the new “use of prior information” recommendations.
• Jon Elion, MD, FACC, & Jerry Williamson, MD, MJ, CHC, LHRM, who present “Ethical Practices and Compliance in CDI: Staying on the Right Side of the Healthcare False Claims Act” and will delve into a deep examination of the principles that drive effective compliance programs necessary for effective CDI efforts.
