Traditions Come Alive at SAAM

In-Person Día de los Muertos Family Day
Saturday, October 29, 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m. ET

The Smithsonian American Art Museum’s beloved Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration is back in person! Bring the whole family to watch exciting live performances from Corazón Folklórico DC, Mariachi Aguila DC, and Sol y Rumba. Have your face painted, view the ofrenda (altar), and enjoy special Día de los Muertos–themed crafts for all ages. Filled with magnificent costumes and festive music, Día de los Muertos is a lively celebration in honor of those who have passed before us.

Can't Make It to the Museum?

Enjoy online crafts, coloring pages, videos, and more on our Día de los Muertos Family Zone. Learn how families create ofrendas to honor their departed loved ones and join in the celebration by making your own holiday decorations.
