Let's celebrate Australia Day!


This Australia Day we're inviting you and your family to celebrate the many cultures of Cockburn at our Australia Day event, Sunday, 26 January, 8am-midday at Coogee Beach Reserve.

Join Cockburn local, TV presenter and MC Adrian Alaberg and Australia Day Ambassador and Women's number one swimming champ, Shelley Taylor-Smith as we bring in yet another awesome Australia Day featuring stacks of fun, free things to do, plus foods from around the globe.

What to bring & road closures
Sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, water bottle, bathers and towel, and cash as there are no EFTPOS machines. Road closureswill be in place. Please check the website for more information. Keep abreast of all City events by subscribing to the online guide. Click here.

Construction has started on the $6M wetlands precinct

Construction of the new $6M precinct in Bibra Lake has begun and will include a new Native ARC facility, extensions to The Wetlands Centre, Cockburn, a new Bibra Lake Scout shed and Rovers den, walkways, outdoor classrooms and more. The project has incorporated sustainable design features throughout and is due for completion early 2021.

Calling for registrations - Cockburn's Got Talent

 

We know Cockburn's got talent and we want to see it. Registrations are still open so you have time to get your application in. It's open to all ages and there's cash prizes up for grabs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category.

Heats:
  • Heat One -  Cockburn Youth Centre (outside). Thursday 6 Feb, 6.30pm
  • Heat Two - Cockburn Youth Centre (inside). Saturday 14 March, 6.30pm
  • Grand Final - Cultural Fair, Harmony Oval, Harmony Ave, Atwell, Saturday 4 April, 3-7pm

Have your say BMX lovers! 


The City of Cockburn is seeking your feedback on a proposal to upgrade the pump track at Spearwood Skate Park. The City has engaged local off-road BMX riders to help come up with a draft concept design that would fit the space and suit riders of all skill levels. Before the draft design can be progressed, the City wants your thoughts on the proposal. Take the Quick Poll or Short Survey online to have your say. Feedback closes Friday 21 February 2020.

With your feedback, we developed the draft vision for the future of Yangebup and Little Rush Lakes including living streams, board walks, a look-out, paths, public art, fauna underpasses, better parking and more. Cockburn donates to bushfire appeal

 
It's without a doubt one of the most horrific bushfire seasons our country has ever faced. The City have made a donation from its Emergency Relief Fund to help devastated communities in NSW, Victoria and SA as they deal with the aftermath of these destructive and ongoing fires.

Take 3 for the Sea

 

We're asking Cockburn-ites to Take 3 for the Sea as part a new campaign that encourages residents to pick up three pieces of litter while visiting our beaches and wetlands to help keep them clean and healthy.

WIN a trip for four to Rottnest!
Take a selfie (photo or video) of yourself picking up three pieces of litter, post it to social media using the hashtag #Take3fortheSeaCockburn and you will go into the draw to win a trip for four to Rottnest Island. Terms and conditions apply. For more information click the green button below.

The City has launched the Clean Ocean Cuppas program in collaboration with a number of coastal cafes. The following cafes will provide a free coffee or soft drink (offer will vary by cafe) to anybody who collects a bucket of litter from the beach:

•    Beachpoint Cafe, Bistro 21, Caffissimo Port Coogee, Coogee Beach Cafe, CRU Health + Juice Bar, Dome Port Coogee, Surfing Lizard Cafe and Woodman Point Beach Kiosk.

WIN a $100 gift voucher!
