Good afternoon from a somber Los Angeles. If you're a baseball fan, then you know that yesterday was about as busy a news day as you can get, with all the MLB trades before the deadline and then the passing of legendary announcer Vin Scully.

I'm not even a Dodgers fan but I would listen to the games because of Vin's voice and stories. He was so interesting and soothing. Listening to him was like hearing your grandfather tell a story and what's truly amazing is that he did it for 67 years and that he called the games by himself. Today's games have three announcers.

I was fortunate to travel to Australia to attend MLB's first official game Down Under in 2014. It was the Dodgers vs. the Diamondbacks (here's my post) and as an invited guest, I was able to go on the field during batting practice and into the press room. The person I wanted to meet most was Vin. Unfortunately, it didn't happen because it turns out Vin was the one person everyone else wanted to meet too and was constantly mobbed.

Travel News
For those who don't care about baseball, let's get right to what you signed up for ... It's been another busy week in the travel industry and as I warned in yesterday's Daily Travel Tip newsletter, Chicago airports and airline schedules might be a mess today thanks to severe storms.

O'Hare is currently ranked first in the world today for the most delayed/canceled flights and Midway is 12th. They're the only U.S. airports in the top 30. So good luck to those traveling to, from or within the Windy City today.

Maui is Paradise But Their Airport Isn’t - Here’s How to Avoid the Chaos at Kahului Airport
One U.S. airport that's experiencing long lines on a daily basis is Maui's Kahului Airport (OGG). Most people will agree that in places, the island of Maui feels like paradise. But the same can't be said about OGG, where lines are reportedly so long that airport staff is handing out water. Here's how to avoid the madness.

Pro Tip: Don’t Wait Until the Last Day to Use Your American Airlines Systemwide Upgrades
American Airlines' website (AA.com) was down on Sunday night and Monday morning and it must have been from all of the elite members trying to use their systemwide upgrades before they expired Sunday night at midnight. I made the mistake of waiting until the last minute and hold time for their ultra-exclusive line was over EIGHT hours! I did manage to use my upgrade thanks to a clever trick, which you can read about here.
