  When Kavanaugh’s nomination became imperiled over allegations by Christine Blasey Ford that he had sexually assaulted her, Republican operatives say Trump saw an opportunity to turn a liability when he forcefully defended the judge. Now that Kavanaugh has been confirmed, Trump and Republicans are looking to make sure they can keep conservative voters energized over the issue. "The springs are all wound pretty tight right now," said J.C. Martin, chairman of the Republican Party in Polk County, Florida. "People aren’t going to calm down after this."
