Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Steve Doocy

Fox News's Steve Doocy pressed Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) about the attacks directed toward law enforcement after the FBI executed a search warrant at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

Since the FBI searched Trump's estate on Monday, conservatives and Trump supporters have continued to condemn the FBI and DOJ, despite a significant increase in threats against law enforcement.

Doocy noted the threats on Thursday, saying, “There are a number of people online and elsewhere who are demonizing the FBI.”

The Fox News anchor went on to mention Republican politicians who have spoken out against the FBI since the raid, including Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

“I’m just curious, whatever happened to the Republican Party backing the blue?!" Doocy asked Scalise.

The congressman claimed that while the Republican Party generally supports law enforcement, "It concerns everybody if you see some agents go rogue."

“Steve, who went rouge?” Doocy interrupted, countering a point repeatedly made by anchors on his own network. “They were following a search warrant.”

The exchange comes after Doocy poured cold water on Joe Concha’s anti-FBI rant by pointing out that FBI Director Christopher Wray was appointed by Trump himself.

MEDIA LOSER:
David Feherty

Broadcaster David Feherty revealed the (frankly, rather basic) reason he left NBC Sports to join the broadcast team behind Saudi-backed LIV Golf.

Back in July, it was announced that Feherty would depart from NBC and the Golf Channel, his home for the last seven years, for a new venture with LIV Golf.

The reason? "Money."

"People don’t talk about it," Feherty told David Briggs of the Toledo Blade. "I hear, ‘Well, it’s to grow the game.’ Bullshit, they paid me a lot of money.”

But, Feherty later insisted the move was more than just dollars and cents. He claimed it was a big opportunity to grow his career and be true to himself.

Feherty went on to cite cancel culture as a deciding factor, explaining that LIV is “an opportunity to be myself again.”

Sure, I guess ... if your true self is someone who overlooks egregious human rights violations in the name of money.

“There are people waiting around every corner hoping to be offended by something. Fuck those people," he added.

"Our lives are being shaped by small groups of mean-spirited people who have no sense of humor. We’re in danger of losing our national sense of humor because of this.”

If Feherty thinks America's woke snowflakes are a group of mean-spirited people compromising the nation, I recommend a quick Google search on Saudi Arabia and the kingdom's crown prince.

Gunman attempts to enter FBI building

THIS STORY CONTINUES TO DEVELOP: The FBI’s office in Cincinnati, Ohio was put on lockdown Thursday amid a standoff with an armed man who reportedly made threats, and shots were fired outside the building before the suspect fled police.

Fox News reported that authorities pursued the suspect to a field off of the I-71 highway, "exchanging fire with law enforcement.

Fox’s Garrett Tenney relayed reporting from Jacqui Heinrich on Thursday, noting a law enforcement source said the subject “attacked the FBI office, possibly firing a nail gun and brandishing an AR-style rifle before fleeing the scene.”

The FBI’s Cincinnati office issued a statement confirming that an armed subject tried to “breach” the headquarters around 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

“At approximately 9 AM this morning an armed subject attempted to breach the Visitor Screening Facility at #FBI Cincinnati,” the agency said. “After an alarm and a response by FBI special agents, the subject fled north onto Interstate 71”

Reports indicate that the suspect got out of his car after being chased by police, and has exchanged fire with law enforcement in a field off of the highway. The FBI released a statement confirming the attempted breach by an armed suspect, and now, “the FBI, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and local law enforcement partners are continuing to try and resolve the situation at the time of this email.

This is a breaking, developing story that may be updated.

While no motive has been established, the attempted attack occurred amid an uptick of threats to federal law enforcement after the FBI executed a search warrant at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.

'It may be funny to you, motherf**ker ...'

Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke ripped a heckler during a town hall in Mineral Wells on Wednesday.

While speaking about AR-15-style rifles, O'Rourke noted that it was the same kind of weapon legally purchased by Salvador Ramos, who fatally shot 19 students and two teachers at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school in May.

“That was originally designed for use on the battlefields in Vietnam to penetrate an enemy soldier’s helmet at 500 feet and knock him down dead," he added of the AR-15 style rifle.

At that point, a man in the crowd laughed, which elicited a pointed response from the gubernatorial hopeful:

“It may be funny to you, motherf**ker, but it’s not funny to me, ok?”
