Hey John,
Enrollment in TinkerLab Schoolhousecloses tomorrow ⏳and you might still have some questions.
Schoolhouse can be your creativity time-saver for homeschooling, morning art, after school creative time, weekend tinkering, and neighborhood playdates, and I don't want you to miss out.
Read on for answers to your biggest questions, or email me back (I'm a real person and would love to hear from you) if I can help.
Q: What age is this for?
A: The Schoolhouse sweet spot is ages 3-8. For families with a mix of older and younger children, Schoolhouse is a great fit with the added benefit that you only have to set up one project rather than different prompts for each child.
Q: What happens in Schoolhouse?
A: Schoolhouse is an online art and STEAM club that will bring more creative play to your days. Go through TinkerLab 101 to build a foundation for setting up a creative space, gathering materials, and talking with your child about their art. In our activity library, explore open-ended, curiosity-boosting prompts that focus on art, STEAM, play, and process over product. If you're looking for cookie-cutter crafts, Schoolhouse won't be a great fit.
Q: What will I get when I join?
A: Each activity comes with a downloadable PDF and a kid-friendly short video (+ transcription). You can also go video-free and still have a rich Schoolhouse experience with PDFs alone. Many of our members keep activity binders for their children to flip through and select activities on their own time, a great way to encourage kids to follow curiosities!

Q: Can I give see an activity in action?
A: Take a peek three activities in the Schoolhouse Sampler, only available through October 10.
|
Q: How much time will this take?
A: There's no timeframe for Schoolhouse. This is a choose-your-own-adventure, and you can go at a pace that feels right for you. The activity library is available to you anytime, and you can pick and choose prompts to follow curiosities and fit your schedule. In addition to offering you access to a full library of hundreds of kid-friendly & ad-free videos, each week you'll get a curated list of prompts to save you time. You can think of it as a meal plan for making.
Q: Will the activities engage my child?
A: When you follow a child's curiosities engagement is always high. One of our goals is to help children create independently, which benefits in them having room to explore and tinker, oftentimes on their own for long periods of time.
This parent was so happy to see her kids engaged for close to 2 hours...

Q: What supplies will I need?
A: We like to keep things simple and our focus is largely on basic materials like crayons, markers, paper, watercolor paint, playdough, and household supplies, so you won't have to dig deep into your pocket to join in. A majority of our prompts pull from the TinkerLab Basic Supply List.
Q: What if I don't feel creative?
A: We welcome makers with all skills and have helped so many parents who were new to making. Our simple projects carve a clear and easy path to open-ended making, and our foundational success path, TinkerLab 101, will help you develop the creative skills you need to support your child along the way.
Q: How is this different from finding free projects online?
A: This is so much better, I promise you! In Schoolhouse you'll experience much more than a collection of activities. You'll find a thoughtful art program designed to help you build a creative habit with the help of weekly plans, supply lists, simple prompt guides, and a community to support you along the way. Everything is organized for you in one spot, and categorized by age and interests, which is a HUGE time saver. If you're tired of collecting hit-or-miss ideas online and want your time back, we simplify the curation process for you and get you what you need when you need it.

You'll get all of this for as low as $12 a month!
Finally, if you're thinking of joining, I'd encourage you to lock in at this low price because it's scheduled to go up in 2022.
Q: I've tried other things and wonder if I'll actually use this?
A: Maybe you’ve tried other products and they haven’t helped you establish the creative habit you’re craving. You start strong and then life gets busy. That's why we designed Schoolhouse with a built-in success path that helps you stay on track in three ways:
Weekly Creative Plans: Easy to set up, and designed to save you time, with weekly reminders that keep you motivated and hold you accountable. Community of Support: A built-in Facebook community of families to cheer you on, plus access to TinkerLab educators for questions and support. TinkerLab 101 Foundation: Our foundational process to help you with everything from setting up a maker space to giving you practicing engaging ways to talk with your child about their creative work.If you see Schoolhouse as the key to finally bringing more creative time to your home, this is your chance to make that happen.
