Sanders Suspends Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders announced on Wednesday that he is suspending his 2020 campaign and ending his pursuit of the presidency. “The greatest obstacle to real social change has everything to do with the power of the corporate and political establishment to limit our vision as to what is possible and what we are entitled to as human beings,” Sanders said. “I want to express to each of you my deep gratitude for helping to create an unprecedented grassroots political campaign that has had a profound impact in changing our nation.”
Sanders added that he will be working with former Vice President Joe Biden towards the defeat of President Donald Trump, and advancing progressive goals. “Today I congratulate Joe Biden, a very decent man who I will work with to move our progressive ideas forward,” Sanders said.
CNN"s John King must not have been listening too closely, though. He missed that part and claimed instead that Sanders didn't praise or promise to work with Biden at all.
Sanders did say, however, he would remain on the ballot in order to have some pull at the convention.
“I will stay on the ballot in all remaining states and continue to gather delegates," he said, citing the need to "exert significant influence over the party platform."

Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, estimated in a new report that if New York adopted a stay-at-home order sooner, the state’s death toll could have been reduced by 50- 80 percent.
Now we wait for reporters to grill Gov. Andrew Cuomo about this. Perhaps MSNBC national affairs analyst John Heilemann would like to go first?
