Credentialing specialist performance improvement plan

Measuring medical staff professionals' performance promotes ongoing excellence and retention. Job descriptions and performance assessments should inform training and development initiatives, including orientation. Beyond regular assessments, MSP leaders should investigate performance issues as they arise and following probationary periods. Through targeted training and development, individualized performance improvement plans can help transform weaknesses into strengths. The following is a sample performance improvement plan.

When people think about sexual harassment in medical settings, what often comes to mind is the stereotype of a male supervisor being inappropriate with a female staff member. One might also think of a male attending physician convincing a female resident to exchange sex for career advancement, or a physician making inappropriate remarks to a patient. However, the most common form of sexual harassment in the healthcare setting is actually harassment committed by patients themselves.

While it’s important to deal with the negative impact that adverse events in healthcare settings have on patients and their families, the emotional toll of these events on healthcare professionals has gone unaddressed for too long. Due to the nature of their work, these professionals can be repeatedly exposed to emotional turmoil to the point that they are considered “second victims” of these adverse events.
