Successfully working with the medical staff services department, Tip 1: Know who does what

Congratulations! You have been appointed to a medical staff leadership position at your organization. You have had contact with the medical staff services department (MSSD) over the years, but on some level, you realize that you are not quite sure how the whole thing works. It is imperative that you get it right because the MSSD can be your best supporter or your greatest opponent, depending on your approach. Failure to recognize what the MSSD does can result in a lack of collaboration, misunderstandings, and a misuse of valuable resources.
