Sample language for amending bylaws

Medical staffs would not want to see any one individual force a proposed bylaws amendment through the voting process because this could jam up the medical staff and board with amendments that don’t have significant support. In the past, any individual could propose an amendment, which was then vetted by a bylaws committee or the medical executive committee. Under the current standard, this vetting process can be used, but it is no longer necessary.

Hospital mergers and acquisitions: Impact on credentialing

Hospital mergers and acquisitions continue in response to the evolving regulatory environment in the healthcare industry. National healthcare policy is driving the urge to merge across the healthcare sector. While decreasing reimbursements for traditional fee-for-service care from government and private payors continue to impact the bottom line, the cost for caring for indigent patients has not diminished. As a result, many hospitals are forced to merge with other established organizations as a means for survival (Vogel and Hadfield, 2017).
