CMS announces OASIS-D, new version of the assessment will take effect in 2020

Less than four months after the implementation of OASIS-D, CMS is already looking ahead to a new version of the assessment expected to take effect Jan. 1, 2020. CMS announced OASIS-D1 on its April 3 home health, hospice and durable medical equipment open door forum. The rulemaking process for OASIS-D1 is expected to begin this summer.

 

Hospice measure added to CASPER QM reports


Beginning April 1, 2019, the Hospice Visits when Death is Imminent measure pair will be included in the Certification and Survey Provider Enhanced Reports Quality Measure (CASPER QM).

With the recent Five-Star Rating System Changes released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) on March 5, 2019, the agency is one step closer to aligning the skilled nursing facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and Five-Star Rating System Quality Measures (QM). The changes to the Five-Star Rating System mimic the QRP measures, inclusions, and data points. The Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will likely further align these programs by unifying the mini-mum data set (MDS) reporting fields.
