November 2018

The Muli Muli Clean Up Country Project has just won a 2018 Premier's Award! The project was an initiative of the Muli Muli Ladies Club, whose members were concerned about the impact of a 50-year-old waste dumping site that had encroached on the traditional burial grounds of their ancestors.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), in collaboration with North East Waste - NEWaste, Muli Muli Local Aboriginal Land Council, the Ladies Club and Githabul Rangers, developed and implemented a community rubbish management plan. DPM facilitated the writing of a song called 'Looking Out For Country' with a group of kids from Woodenbong School, and made a music video in the community as part of the education component of the plan. Yey us, and everyone else involved with the project, for a fantastic win.

DPM's latest music video with the awesome Bogga Mish crew from Boggabilla/Toomelah in Gomeroi country launched this week.
Rockin out a tuff, driving, political ballad with influences from 90's acid jazz/west coast hip hop. DPM's latest music video with the awesome Bogga Mish crew from Boggabilla/Toomelah in Gomeroi country launches this week.
This project was funded by Hunter New England Population Health and Hunter New England Aboriginal Health, part of an initiative to create awareness and conversation around skin health and traditional medicine, and runs alongside a long-term community consultation process, and corresponding community health projects.

We are delighted to share with you our 2018 Annual Report.

Where the eagle roams! The Coomie Crew shot their music video last week all around the area of Coomealla and Dareton. We got some beautiful shots of the red dirt, the scrub and the meeting of the Murray and Darling Rivers. The girls choreographed their own dance which we filmed in the Coomealla School Hall as well as in the bush. We got to meet some very special community members including Aunty Geraldine, who's going to be the focus of one of our short films that we're putting together this week! Stay tuned as there's heaps more to come. BIG shout out to our funders Western NSW PHN and Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation - so good to have you guys on board.
