I was recently asked to name my favorite childhood book. Without hesitation my answer was Harold and the Purple Crayon.
Harold, with purple crayon in hand, possesses limitless possibility. Making it up as he goes and drawing solutions through unforeseen junctures along the way, Harold creates life with complete confidence in his imagination.
He sets forth on an unknown path only to change direction because this path was going nowhere. Realizing it would be a lot easier to see with light he draws the moon in the sky to lead his way through the night. Harold's ensuing adventures weave together delight and danger, revealing how the quickness of surprise ignites the strategy that guides him to his next adventure. He trusts that he will be okay, come what may.
