Drew Brees introduces Breakers top pick. Bank negligence. Eat more king cake.

By Bob Warren

There’s another professional football team carrying the New Orleans name. And last night they trotted out a local hero to announce their first-round draft pick. See who the New Orleans Breakers took. (I know, right? They're baaack!) Spoiler alert: It’s a quarterback.

Bank collapse: A lot of folks have been following the saga of the failed First NBC Bank. In some court documents unsealed Tuesday, federal banking regulators claim some big-time problems in managing the institution. The bank’s former chief executive officer and a number of others face criminal charges in the collapse.

Let them eat cake: King cake season won’t least forever. Sorry! But you still have a week to wolf down your favorites, our food ace Ian McNulty says. (And donuts are your thing, there's this.)

Check out this house: Who doesn't like looking at pictures of cool houses, right? Here's a big one on St. Charles Avenue.

The Queens debut: Finally, a new parade debuted last night on the west bank of Jefferson Parish -- The Culinary Queens of New Orleans. Check out the pictures. And for lots more Carnival news, please head over to our Mardi Gras page. And don't forget our Parade Cam returns tonight, so tune in.
