The Verge | Dropbox wants to be one of the collaborative tools in your arsenal alongside heavy hitters like Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Slack, Salesforce, Trello, and Zoom, and today it’s unifying those ideas into a single new desktop app that it’s calling “the new Dropbox.” According to the company’s blog post, it’s designed to be a kind of meta-platform that helps you organize your “work about work,” but the highlight here is the ability to create and collaborate without ever leaving the new Dropbox app.
BetterCloud | SaaS apps are built for users, not for IT. They make collaboration easier–allowing users to access more data faster and to share it with outside parties. But this creates a challenge for IT, who must balance security and compliance with users’ desire for easy access and frictionless collaboration. Join BetterCloud and 451 Research leading analyst, Garrett Bekker, today for a discussion on the shortfalls of CASBs and how organizations should approach SaaS security in the modern workplace.
Krebs on Security | Microsoft on Tuesday released updates to fix 88 security vulnerabilities in its Windows operating systems and related software. The most dangerous of these include four flaws for which there is already exploit code available. There’s also a scary bug affecting all versions of Microsoft Office that can be triggered by a malicious link or attachment. And of course Adobe has its customary monthly security update for Flash Player.

How-To Geek | Windows 10’s Storage Sense feature automatically runs when you’re low on disk space. It automatically deletes files more than 30 days old in your Recycle Bin, too. This was on by default on a PC running the May 2019 Update. This is a useful feature! If your computer is low on disk space, you probably want more. Windows will clear old files out of your Recycle Bin. You shouldn’t be storing files in your Recycle Bin, anyway. But, if you want to stop Windows from doing this automatically, you can.
MakeUseOf | While Chrome exceeds in feature-set, it sometimes leaves a few gaps when it comes to the user experience. Chrome is bulky, it takes up too much RAM, and it’s just not as pleasant to use as Safari or Firefox. But thanks to some extensions, you can fix the biggest issues with Chrome, and vastly improve the browsing experience.
