Is AI going to save you time at your job? Maybe not, study suggests

 

The dream of AI at work was that it was going to make us all more productive, saving time on boring and repetitive tasks and freeing us up to tackle more challenging parts of the job. However, a new study from the University of Chicago suggests that might not be the case. Researchers found that Danish workers using generative AI tools like ChatGPT experienced only moderate productivity boosts, and that these tools didn't impact the number of hours that workers put in or how much they earned.

Heads up! A Soviet spacecraft from the 1970s will fall to Earth next week

 

The 70s are back, and not in a fun way. A Soviet spacecraft called Kosmos 482 was launched in 1972 and was supposed to land on Venus, but a malfunction of the rocket meant that it never left Earth's orbit. Now, that spacecraft is predicted to come tumbling back to Earth next week. Experts say they aren't sure exactly where it will land or how much of the material will survive re-entry, though the risk to people on the ground is small.
