Apple finally starts paying MacBook owners over faulty butterfly keyboards

The case was settled in 2022, so it's taken a while to get to this stage

Apple has finally begun paying some of its customers a share of the $50 million fund that resulted from a class-action lawsuit brought over faulty butterfly keyboards on MacBook laptops.

A reporter at 9to5Mac received the maximum $395 payment just a couple of days ago, after a court issued a payment order for the case at the end of June.

The issue affected butterfly keyboards on MacBooks, MacBook Airs, and MacBook Pros that were sold between 2015 and 2019. The keyboards were poorly designed and susceptible to failure, and led to numerous complaints about the keys sticking or failing entirely ...

A heavy metal band has made a song about a OnePlus phone

OnePlus has found a novel way to promote its latest smartphone

It’s not every day that a Finnish heavy metal monster band makes a song about a smartphone, but Lordi has done just that, Digital Trends reported.

The tune was born out of a collaboration with OnePlus on its recently launched Nord 4 phone. The song is called Made of Metal, which is rather apt as the phone is made of metal. The chorus, “Never settle, made of metal,” matches the Nord 4’s tagline, too.

You can listen to Made of Metal on Apple Music and Spotify now, but check out the promo video, too, as it's one of the maddest phone/music-related videos you're ever likely to see ...

Victrola’s new Stream Sapphire is the wireless turntable for audiophiles

Company's latest flagship can play vinyl wirelessly at high quality

After unveiling it at CES at the start of this year, Victrola has now officially launched the Stream Sapphire turntable, Digital Trends reported.

The Stream Sapphire is the latest wireless turntable in Victrola's lineup of Stream turntables that includes the previously released Stream Carbon, the Stream Onyx, and the Stream Pearl. Priced at $1,300, the-top-of-the range Sapphire is the most expensive in the lineup, but that’s mainly because it’s the most technologically advanced.

It comes with wireless capabilities, but at its core, the Stream Sapphire is a high-end turntable that can be connected to more traditional analog devices as well ...

Deadpool & Wolverine collects a cool $97 million at weekend box office

It 's no surprise that the sequel was No. 1, but which movie was 2nd?

Deadpool & Wolverine enjoyed a fabulous second weekend at the box office, collecting $97 million from moviegoers in North America. That ranks it eighth in terms of biggest second weekend earnings in domestic box office history, Variety reported.

Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the movie jumped ahead of  Barbie, which previously held the No. 8 slot for its $93 million take on its second weekend.

On its third weekend of release, disaster epic Twisters pulled in $22.7 million at the box office to take the second spot, while M. Night Shyamalan’s new thriller Trap, starring Josh Hartnett, opened in third place with $15 million ...

Prison Architect 2 delayed indefinitely just weeks before launch

Those who preordered the prison-building sim can get a refund

Prison Architect 2 was set to launch in September, but has now been delayed indefinitely, Kotaku reported.

Publisher Paradox said in a statement that the team requires "more time to improve both the game's performance and its content" after internal reviews and beta test groups suggested that these elements needed attention.

Seven years after the launch of Prison Architect, Paradox bought the franchise from original developers Introversion Software. Earlier this year, it announced a sequel with a September 3 release, but its release has now been delayed for the third time, with no new date announced ...
