Google Gemini arrives on iPhone as a native app |
iPhone users can download the Gemini app directly from the App Store
|
Google has just released a new native Gemini app for iOS that will give iPhone users free, direct access to the AI chatbot without the need for a mobile web browser, Digital Trends reported. The Gemini mobile app landed on Android first, back in February, when the platform transitioned from the older Bard branding. The Gemini app lets you speak directly with the AI via Gemini Live, which is an entirely new feature for the iOS ecosystem that was previously unavailable through either the Google app or mobile web browser. Replies come in one of 10 user-selected voices, and it can converse in multiple languages, too ... |

SetMe makes remote support intuitive for everyone on Windows and MacOS |
From a business perspective, IT professionals and support teams need to be able to easily, yet securely connect to employee computers remotely. Whether to provide ad-hoc or unattended remote support, fix something that’s gone wrong, or just investigate a challenge or complication. That’s especially true of today’s digitally-centric hybrid and remote workforce. But there is a severe lack of tools that do this properly. Sure, the average support tool might allow IT pros to remote in, but it’s neither convenient nor intuitive for any of the parties involved. SetMe’s concept is the antithesis of that experience ... |

Android gets call scam detection and real-time app threat alerts
|
The new security features are now available for U.S.-based users, and will soon make their way to older Android devices, too
|
Google is continuing its recent focus on bolstering Android safety and security with a couple of new features that tackle the threat of malicious apps and scam calls, Digital Trends reported. They’re coming first to Pixel phones before making their way to other Android handsets. One of the new features, Google Play Protect live threat detection, shows real-time alerts for apps that pose a threat, enabling users to take action, such as revoking access or uninstalling it before a malicious app package does more damage. Meanwhile, enhanced scam detection for calls uses AI to look for signs of suspicious behavior and will send an alert if anything untoward is detected ... |

The Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series, which comes in four screen sizes of between 55 and 85 inches, also offers Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, and, for the first time, built-in Dolby Atmos. Red One expected to rule North American box office on weekend debut
|
The movie cost a whopping $250 million to make, so it needs to do well |
Despite poor early reviews, Amazon MGM Studios will be hoping Red One makes a brilliant box office debut this weekend. Boxoffice Pro, for one, believes it’ll be the most popular movie in North America over the next few days, estimating revenue of between $20 million and $30 million for the fantasy holiday comedy starring starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans. After three weeks at the top, Venom: The Last Dance is set to drop to second place, taking somewhere between $7 million and $10 million, while The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which arrived in theaters last weekend, looks like taking third spot with ticket sales of between $5 million and $8 million ... |
