By Bob Warren Rising tide: Changes are coming to the nation’s flood insurance program, and they're gonna cost us. Louisiana homeowners will start seeing the effects of the overhaul next month, Mike Smith reports, and many say FEMA is leaving everyone in the dark about just how much more we’ll be paying. Courting a QB: As it was last year, the big offseason question for the Saints has been “Who will be the quarterback?” Columnist Jeff Duncan writes that the Saints have IDd their guy and are putting on the hard press. Shut it down: If you own a short-term rental in St. Tammany Parish, there’s a good chance you’ve either been told to shut it down – or soon will. The parish has a new law that bans short-term rentals in most residential areas and last month it began enforcing it, Sara Pagones of our north shore office reports. Green Day: There’s no St. Patrick’s Day parade in the Bywater this year. But there’s a party. Markey’s Bar, the venerable pub on Louisa Street, has stepped up to organize a block party, our resident food/Irish-themed party guy Ian McNulty reports. Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for more news throughout the day. BW |
